Two Seniors Honored with Athlete Spotlights
Paul Smiths N.Y. Kelly Bosloper and Austin Delosh were both chosen as Athlete Spotlights for their successes and leadership in the Fall seasons.
Bosloper, a senior studying Environmental Science, is the captain of the women’s team this year. She began her collegiate career with solid performances as a freshman. She worked to overcome some academic challenges so she could return to competition as a snowshoe athlete during her junior year.
Bosloper was new to snowshoe racing, but she worked diligently to adapt to training and running in the cold through the season. She was competitive at distances from the 100 meters to the 10K over the winter season. Bosloper made the Collegiate Running Association’s National Team by virtue of her silver medal finish in the 10K at US Collegiate Nationals in Leadville, Colorado this past February.
On Halloween, Bosloper led the Paul Smith’s College Cross Country women’s team with a time of 27:53 and a second-place finish in the 6K distance at the Paul Smith’s College VIC. The mile pace of 7:29 for the 6K surpasses her 7:59 pace/mile at a 5K race held at Vermont Tech on October 12th.
“I hope we are able to look forward to a viable snowshoe racing season followed by the second half of the collegiate cross country season next spring. Kelly is just beginning to approach her potential as an endurance athlete,” Coach Jim Tucker said when asked about Bosloper. “She has quite a top end capacity to excel at longer distances in her post-collegiate career. I believe she is on target to be among the athletes on the All Conference Team podium at the YSCC Cross Country Championships next spring. With a solid effort through the winter season, she could be among the top three finishers.”
Deloush, a senior studying Natural Resource Conservation Management, is a familiar face around Saunders Athletics facility being both a member of the Golf team and the Men’s Hockey team.
“Austin has been our co-captain of the team for the last 2 years. He is an outstanding, responsible young man,” Coach Rod Bushey stated. “Since he has attended PSC and been on the team, Austin has been the team’s best and most consistent golfer. He is an outstanding role model for our new members in our team’s core values of honesty, integrity, responsibility, and sportsmanship. Austin has displayed loyalty and passion for the game of golf and represented this college, the game of golf, and himself with pride and professionalism. He’s become a great ambassador for golf here at PSC in helping in the recruitment of new team members. He will be dearly missed by this team and will definitely be hard to replace. I wish him all the best in life after his collegiate experience.”
Congratulations to Austin and Kelly on a great fall.
