PAUL SMITHS N.Y-
This spring the Lady Bobcats graduated a strong senior and a team leader, Paige Farrington, who was crucial in the 2019 conference championship run. Farrington has been described as ““A catalyst to [the teams] success “, but Coach Ritt Roberge will do his best to keep his team on top of the YSCC.
Roberge has hit the ground running, adding 8 new Bobcats to the 2020 roster. The Bobcats are coming off a dominant 14-9 season including an 8-1 conference record. The Bobcats came up short in the postseason, finishing second in the conference tournament. The team has their eyes on first next season! Let's meet the new bobcats!
Gabrielle Adams
Gabrielle Adams joins the Bobcats after attending Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High school. The Vernon, NY native will be studying biology while attending PSC.
“With experience from the sand volleyball game Gabrielle will bring some exciting play to Paul Smith’s College,” Roberge adds. “Primarily a back row player I expect her outdoor experience to transition very well to the indoor both on offense & defense.”
Hannah Aldrich
Hannah Aldrich from Cortland NY, will also add her talents to the Bobcat’s roster. A Section 3 Champion at Cortland Jr-Sr High School, Aldrich will be studying Recreation on campus.
Roberge had this to say about his new libero, “Hannah comes to PSC as a solid Libero / Defense Specialist as part of NYSPHAA Section 3 Winter Champions 2020. Her knowledge of the game along with the ability to pass the ball will enable our offense to score & win games. Hannah is a great addition to an outstanding incoming class.”
Alli Cherry
Alexandra (Ali) Cherry has committed to joining the Lady Bobcats for the next season. Cherry, a native of Grasonville Maryland, played her high school career at Saint Mary’s High School, where she competed as a three-sport athlete in Hockey, Volleyball and Track. Cherry will be studying Baking at Paul Smith’s.
“Very happy to have Alli joining the volleyball team,” Roberge commented. “A tremendous dual star athlete in volleyball & hockey she will make a great impact in our offense. The MVP of her high school team she led them to their 1st ever conference championship her senior year. I look forward to seeing Alli continue her stellar performance here at Paul Smith’s College.”
Madison Hollenbeck
Madison Hollenbeck, from Tupper Lake, NY, is another new Bobcat joining the 2020 roster. Hollenbeck will be studying Natural Resource Management on campus this fall.
Roberge had this to say about the future Bobcat, “Coming back to volleyball after a few years off, Madison is much stronger & dedicated now to volleyball. Having enthusiasm for a sport is a key to doing well & I expect Madison to bring this to the team.”
Sydney Krompasky
The next newcomer is Sydney Krompasky. Krompasky, from Hamlin PA, joins the Bobcat’s after graduating from Western Wayne High School. She will be studying Ecological Forest Management.
“As in incoming freshman Sydney brings to the volleyball team confidence, power & a great love for the game,” Roberge noted. “After a stellar High School career, she’ll add firepower to our offense with her ability to put the ball down. I look forward to seeing many great accomplishments from Sydney in her time here at Paul Smith’s College.”
Danielle Ward
The Bobcats will also add Danielle Ward, a transfer from SUNY Canton. Danielle is originally from Adam’s Center, NY, and will be studying Hotel, Resort & Tourism Management.
Roberge had this to say about his new transfer, “Coming in as Junior transfer student from Canton Dani brings to the Bobcats stability as an all round player. Primarily a front row player with good all round skills, Dani will give us many options of where to play her on the court.”
Samantha Wheaton
Samantha Wheaton, a Parks & Conservation Management student from Dartmouth, MA, is joining the Bobcats from Bristol County Agricultural High School.
“Sam will be coming in as middle hitter for the Bobcats making up which could be the strongest front court the Bobcats have seen in awhile,” Coach Roberge stated. “She’ll transition well into the college level with her love of the game having played both indoor & beach volleyball.”
Sophia Poirier
The last Bobcat recruit is Sophia Poirier from North Bangor, NY. Poirier is transferring from the North Country Community College Malone campus and will be continuing her education in Hotel Resort Tourism Management.
Coach Roberge had this to say about his new transfer, “A new comer to volleyball having only played one year of high school volleyball Sophia brings a love of the game with the desire to improve her skills. A Junior transfer from NCCC Malone campus her maturity will serve her well as she moves up to the college level.”
