Bobcats Gain “Powers’ Play”
PAUL SMITHS N.Y. – Women’s Hockey Coach Casey Gerrish adds depth to the roster with the addition of Section X student athlete Michaela Powers. Powers, an Ogdensburg NY native, is a former standout for the Canton High School Girls Hockey team who played most recently for Rideau St. Lawrence Hockey club in Ontario.
Powers, the daughter of Hedi Powers and granddaughter of Gerald and Beverly Findley, will attend Paul Smith’s College and study Biology this fall after graduating from Ogdensburg Free Academy.
"I love the game and I have had a passion for hockey for a long time” Powers noted. “I'm so blessed to be able to play another 4 years of the game that I love near Lake Placid, where miracles do happen. Thanks to Coach Snipe, my mom, my grandparents, and Coach Casey Gerrish."
"I've been watching Michaela play hockey all the way up since she was little. It's been an absolute joy to see her progress and I really couldn't be happier to be coaching her for the next 4 years,” Coach Gerrish adds. “Michaela is one of my top prospects, and she has a long and storied college hockey career ahead of her. I knew the first moment she stepped on campus that it would be a perfect fit and I can't wait for her to put on a Paul Smith's College Bobcats jersey."
Smitty Nation is excited to see its newest Bobcat on the ice!
