Bobcats Shoot Season Best at YSCC Championships
Portsmouth, NH ~ Even though they didn't come away with the league victory, the Paul Smith's College Golf Team was full of smiles on Sunday at the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) Golf Championships at Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, NH.
The Bobcats scored their best collective team round of the season, and PSC Golf head coach Rod Bushey earned Co-Coach of the Year accolades by bringing together a young team who competed with honor and respect after losing seven seniors.
Team captain Owen Kime (Waterloo, NY) shot the best round for the Bobcats with an 88, good enough for 15th place. Sophomore assistant captain Sam Reynolds (Potsdam, NY) was next with an 89 (16th place), followed by Nick Porreca (Queensbury, NY) with a 90 (T17th place), Zach Hale (East Burke, VT) with a 93 (T20th place), and Gabe Clark (Ogdensburg, NY) with a 94 (T22nd place).
The team shot a 360, which is their lowest team round of the season, and earned third place behind YSCC champions SMCC (313) and runners up UMA (320).
Nick Porreca, Zach Hale, and Sam Reynolds will compete at the United States Collegiate Athletic Associstion (USCAA) Golf National Championships at the Penn State University Blue Course in State College, PA this coming weekend.
