Men’s Rugby Back to Playing Rugby 15s
Clinton, NY ~ The Paul Smith's College Men's Rugby Team is back on the field playing Rugby 15s for the first time since Covid.
Their match against Hamilton College on Saturday didn't end the way the Bobcats wanted, losing 40-0, but the realization that they have enough players to field a team is all the encouragement they need moving forward.
"Though the team didn't get the win, it was an opportunity for the young players to get some valuable learning and playing experience against a good team like Hamilton, which is made up of mostly juniors and seniors," said Pat Romeo, PSC Rugby head coach.
The Bobcats are comprised of mostly freshmen and sophomores with only a few upperclassmen mixed in. The Bobcats played a physical match, and one that was noted by the opposing coach from Hamilton and the on-field referee.
The team hosts St. Lawrence University on Saturday, September 28th in their home opener at the Brighton Field in Gabriels, NY at 1pm.
Anyone who is interested in trying out for the team please contact Pat Romeo at promeo@paulsmiths.edu.
