PSC Bobcat XC Teams Enjoy 4th Place Finishes at SUNY Plattsburgh's Cardinal Class to Begin the Season
First Year runners, Eliot Soderholm and Lilly Rother lead the Paul Smith's College Bobcats to 4th place team finishes at SUNY Plattsburgh in the Cardinal Classic.

Summary: First year runners, Eliot Soderholm and Lilly Rother paced the Bobcat XC teams to solid early season finishes in the SUNY Plattsburgh Cardinal Classic Cross Country Invitational.
A trio of freshmen ~ Soderholm, Tyler Kerschbaum, and Ethan Parrish blasted through the first mile in 5:20, 5:22, and 5:26 respectively. Soderholm finished in 23rd place in 17:33, while Kerschbaum placed 30th in 18:11, followed by Parrish in 18:34 in 32nd place. Sophomore Ryan Chiari was the fourth Bobcat to cross the finish line in 19:42, followed by Wesley Burkit in 48th place with a time of 20:13. Paul Smith's had 13 men competing in the 5K event, which featured 62 runners from six colleges in the North Country.
St. Lawrence University won the men's 5K with 23 points, followed by host SUNY Plattsburgh with 43 points, and Clarkson University with 72 points. Paul Smith's finished in 4th with 112 points, while both SUNY Potsdam and Clinton Community College fielded incomplete teams.
For the women, Lilly Rother (Lake Placid HS/Lake Placid, NY) paced the team with a 10th place finish in the 5K with a time of 21:35. Ellen Haas (JR/Red Creek, NY) finished in 22:40 to finish in 18th place. Joanna Kershner (FR/Reading, PA) finished in 24:19 to place 26th, followed by Brooklynn Shumway (FR/Bloomingdale, NY) in 25:18 to finish in 30th. Ellie Judice (SR/Dayton, ME) rounded out the scoring for Paul Smith's, placing 38th in 29:23.
St. Lawrence won the women's title with 17 points, followed by SUNY Plattsburgh with 54, and Clarkson placed third with 83, and Paul Smith's finished fourth with 95 points. SUNY Potsdam failed to score, as they had an incomplete team.
Paul Smith's will head to Randolph, Vermont next week to take part in the Maple Classic at Vermont Tech. The Bobcats expect NCAA Division III power, Middlebury College to set the pace in both races.
