Snyder stands tall in defeat
Katey Snyder stopped 64 of 70 shots as the Paul Smith's College Bobcats hockey team dropped a 6-1 decision to the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Panthers on Saturday, January 26. The 64 saves are a single game high for the sophomore from Lake Clear, NY, and a single game record for the 2018-2019 UNYCHL Tier-2 season.
After giving up five unanswered goals through the first two frames, Kyle Bond (Potsdam, NY) converted at close range from Cody Liguori (Rutland, VT) and Gabe Smith (Queensbury, NY). The Bobcats closed the game on a high note, tying the final period in the +/- category and playing sturdy and steadfast defense along with the excellent performance from Snyder.
The Bobcats netminder has 40+ saves now in three of the Bobcats five games this year. "Every game we improve as a unit. It's all about playing until the final buzzer no matter what." Snyder certainly brings the right attitude and the necessary skill to succeed on the ice. When asked about the stellar goaltending from Snyder, John Morgan, the Paul Smith's College Director of Sports Initiatives that she was "unbelievable to watch."
The Paul Smith's College hockey team continue their season this weekend with away matches against SUNY Oneonta at the Binghamton Ice House on Friday night and Albany Pharmacy at the Albany Academy Field House on Saturday. Game times are 9pm Friday, and 5pm Saturday. Anyone wishing to attend the games can do so free of charge.
