Above Par Recruiting leads to Below Par Dreams
PAUL SMITHS N.Y. – Golf Coach Rod Bushey has added two more golfers to an already strong recruiting class. Michael Labrake and Madison Bentley from Hadley, NY and Athens, NY respectfully, with both be joining the Bobcats this fall.
Labrake is coming to PSC after playing golf for Hadley – Luzerne High School where the Eagles won their 11th consecutive Adirondack League championship title in October 2019.
Coach Bushey said, “While talking with Mike, it became obvious to me that Mike is an outstanding athlete who has excelled in several sports in high school and he has a passion for golf. He will become a great addition to our program this fall, and Assistant Coach Tom Cotter and I are excited that Mike brings leadership and experience, and looking forward to working with him on taking his golf game to the collegiate level.”
Labrake plans to study Natural Resource Conservation while attending Paul Smith’s College. When asked about the deciding factors in choosing PSC Labrake noted “Once I visited the campus, I fell in love with it. I come from a small town and a small community where everybody knows everybody, and the Paul Smith’s campus gave me the same feeling. I felt at home, seeing that Paul Smith’s College is a small school and I will have the ability to do everything I can at when I am at hometown. It’s like a home away from home feeling to me.”
Bentley, who will be studying forestry, joins the Bobcats after competing for Coach Joe Raco at Taconic Hills Highschool. Bentley, a varsity golfer since 7th grade has led his team to two conference titles, and to the sectional tournament 4 times. Individually Bentley has earned the Patroon Conference MVP and was a 1st team all-conference golfer.
“Madison is a hard working, dedicated and accomplished golfer that will succeed at the collegiate level and beyond because of the talent and passion for golf and desire to be a better golfer and person.” Coach Bushey added. “We are very fortunate to have Madison attending PSC and being a member of our golf team for years to come.”
Keep an eye out for both these new Bobcats as the tee off this fall!
