Wardecki Fires an 87 at NCAA-Cobleskill Tournament
Cobleskill, NY ~ The Paul Smith's College golf team traveled to Cobleskill, NY on Sunday to take part in the Cobleskill Invitational for the first time, competing against a solid lineup of NCAA Division III schools.
Brandon Wardecki (Avoca, PA) had the low round for the Bobcats, shooting an 87. Head Coach Rod Bushey was pleased with the progress Wardecki has made.
"Brandon started playing golf just a couple of years ago and has quickly developed into someone that can be one of the top players in our conference," said Bushey.
Co-captains Zach Hale (East Burke, VT) and Owen Kime (Waterloo, NY) followed Wardecki, shooting 95 each, while Philip Lindsay (Tupper Lake, NY) and Gabe Clark (Ogdensburg, NY) rounded out the scoring with a 96 and 106, respectively.
The nerves of competing against NCAA Division III golfers seemed to have gotten the better of the Bobcats over the first few holes, but once they settled in they had no problem competing with the field and blending in seamlessly.
The undulating course and small greens made for a good day of cardio as the team looks to prepare for the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) Tournament in October with a prep round in Sanford, ME at the Sanford Country Club this coming weekend.
