Golf Team Finishes Season at YSCC Championship
Sanford, ME ~ The Paul Smith's College golf team shot its final round of the season over the weekend as they competed in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) Championship at the Sanford Country Club in Sanford, Maine.
Nick Ogden (Queensbury, NY) once again shot the low for the Bobcats as he fired off a round of 90. Following Ogden was Gabe Clark (Ogdensburg, NY) with a 94 at the picturesque course that is the future site of the 2026 Maine Men's Amatuer Golf Championship. Owen Kime (Waterloo, NY), Brandon Wardecki (Avoca, PA) and senior Zach Hale (East Burke, VT) rounded out the scoring for the Bobcats with a 101, 102, and 104, respectively.
Teams are only allowed to enter five participants in each tournament. The rest of the team is comprised of Tyson Smith (Cato, NY), Ryen Janus (Frederick, MD), Zach Zinzow (Sloansville, NY), Joshua Alexanian (Ballston Spa, NY), Anthony Kendrick (Foley, AL), Omar Uqdah (North Adams, MA), and Dylan Sauve (Wappingers Falls, NY). Although only five members were able to compete, everyone who represents the team and PSC would've conducted themselves with the utmost respect and professionalism that has come to define the golf team at Paul Smith's College.
Honesty, Integrity, Responsibility, and Sportsmanship are the core tenets and team values that head coach Rod Bushey instills in his players from Day 1. That overall quality of character is the reason why the golf team is one of the most, if not the most respected athletic team on the Paul Smith's College campus year in and year out.
"I could not be more proud of these players and the other players that form our complete golf team here at Paul Smiths. It is an honor and a privilege to be the coach of these young men," said Bushey.
The team returns many of the same core group of players for the 2026 season. They are looking forward to improving on this year's results while maintaining the strong standard of excellence both on and off the course.
Coach Bushey would like to thank his team, Athletic Director Zack Luzzi, Athletic Operations Manager, Sports Photographer, and Assistant Sports Information Director Mercedes Rideout, and Sports Information Director Casey Gerrish for all that they do to make the season enjoyable for the student athletes.
